Week 11
This week we made the final field preparations for our Summer crops. Our Fall seedlings in the greenhouse look great and are set to go in soon. It definitely doesn't feel like Fall is in the air yet, but the heat wave will break and Fall will be here before we know it. Summer flavors still abound as we begin harvesting some new varieties of melons and peppers this week. We'll be adding Galia and Canary melons to the list this week, both are tropical melons originating in the middle east and feature a sweet white colored flesh. Unlike our cantaloupes which are mostly ripe, these could use a couple days on the counter to ripen a touch more.
