D&V Organics CSA

Week 11

After eight months of growing and a couple weeks of curing/drying, our garlic is finally ready to put in CSA shares this week.  We love the full-bodied flavor of our hardneck garlic.  Other new items coming up for this week's CSA include a few different types of melons.  The most flavorful cantaloupe variety that we grow, called Sara's Choice, is finally ready for shares this week.  We like the consistent sweetness and rich flavor of Sara's Choice cantaloupes.  Additionally, we just began harvesting watermelons, which have been in the field growing for a little over two months.  For the watermelons, we are growing a few different varieties, with slightly different flavor profiles and textural differences.  This week's watermelon is called Dark Belle, it's seeded and has a slightly firmer, not airy, red flesh than most watermelons.  Dark Belle is sugary sweet with a bold watermelon flavor.

Enjoy,

Derek & Vicky
