D&V Organics 2021 CSA Week 2

D&V Organics CSA

Week 2

As the weather heats up, things on the farm are growing fast.  We are excited to be harvesting a few new things this week for our CSA members: purple salad radishes, dandelion greens, frisée and baby bok choi.  For the past month, our daily farm activities have centered around planting and now that we have begun harvesting, we are finding the balance between continuing to plant and our weekly harvest schedule.  Each year, as we approach June, our "to do" list gets bigger and bigger, until the work load feels quite unbearable, but we usually find a way to push through and somehow manage to accomplish our tasks.  This past week, we were able to transplant (plant seedlings into the field) our first cantaloupe and specialty melon planting of the year, and this coming week, we are scheduled to transplant our first watermelon planting.  Spring is always an exciting time of year, and with forecasted temperatures in the 80s/90s at the end of the week, we are certain the melon plants are going to grow rapidly.

Enjoy,

Derek & Vicky
