Winter Projects

Posted on January 23rd, 2020 by Lindsey Visser

Hello Friends!

Hope you all are having a great week!  It is hard to believe that we are heading into the last week of January. We enjoyed a family vacation in Florida last week.  We relaxed by the pool, took lots of walks on the beach and of course we had to stop by the local farmers market! It was a struggle to get my farmer away from the farm for a week, but we had a great time and I think I have him convinced to come with us again. :)

We will start planting for the field in February and are working to get the greenhouse projects done so we have room for everything.  Greenhouse # 1 is getting new benches in this week. This house is where we will be starting the transplants.  Thankfully the floor does not need to be dug out in this house so it is going much faster.  The greenhouse tomatoes are looking great and next week we will focus on getting the 2 tomato greenhouses houses ready to plant.

With the ground frozen the ditch digging has come to a halt, but that is giving them some time to work on tractor maintenance.  Jon has the tractors all washed and now they need to be serviced.

All of the seeds were ordered in December and they are starting to arrive.  We are getting very excited for this coming season!

I am planning to have the Spring/Summer CSA information come out next week.  With the Harvie system we have much more flexibility than we did before and I am very excited about the changes for the coming season.  Watch for details in the coming weeks.

That's all for now, have a great week!
