Well the plot of okra in the picture is finally producing, just days before we may see our first frost, which if we get a frost the okra will be toast! Haha! That is how it goes sometimes though, we typically plan on the first frost to be around mid October but it rarely hits when we predict it to. If we do get a frost, it will likely knock out our tomato plants, which are too tall to try and cover, and also our eggplant and peppers. The good that comes with it is most of the weeds growing now will be burned out and our winter crops can handle it. I hope it doesn't burn us too bad but it is one of the things that is out of our control, we will keep yall posted on that and we hope to see some winter crops being harvested soon.

About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
