This is definitely the longest dry streak we have had at the farm during summer in the 11 years I have been here. I am very grateful for our 3 well's and high quality water that is available to us, without it we would have folded our hand by now. Last week I was even watering all of our trees that were near irrigation because I am starting to see brown leaves on some trees around us, I am afraid of them dying and falling on some of our crops! I also can't remember a summer as hot as this one has been but we have been pushing through it carefully and we have some nice crops coming soon. Fall tomatoes went into the ground on Saturday morning, just hope they can handle the heat while they are young. We should start seeing some other new items soon as well, thank you all for holding on through these tough times for us!

About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
