Farm Happenings for July 27, 2023

It was an excellent first harvest of delicata squash to say the least! We take these bins and stack them in our "tomato room" and keep air circulating on them. Our tomato room is just an air conditioned room that we keep around 70 degrees all the time. If you aren't familiar the delicata squash yet then you are for a treat. They have a thin skin on them when compared to butternut or acorn squash, which is great because you don't have to peel them. Simply cut in half long ways, remove seeds and you can roast them in the oven with olive oil, salt, and pepper and they are delicious. We have one more week before we plant our fall tomatoes and I am hoping that they can handle the heat wave. I was excited this morning on my way into work to see 69 degrees, I know that is kinda crazy to say but it was a little cooler this morning!
