Delicata squash is in!! It has been hot hot on the farm but we haven't stopped planting and prepping, shade breaks have been more frequent for sure though. We are getting our fall tomato plants in the ground, we have to do this in the morning as early as possible with the heat, and of course on white plastic this time of year. We are also preparing some ground for strawberry plants that will be coming in late September, we have always just purchased berries from local farmers that have been growing them for years, which I intend to keep doing, but we wanted to try some ourselves this year so wish us luck on that. About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
