We are planting our last batch of onions! I wanted to share a picture of the onion sets we get before planting, they are about the size of small ink pen with 75 in each bunch! We plant yellow, white, and red creole and we usually start harvesting the first in late February or early March. We start to pick them at the size in the picture, about golf ball size. With decent weather (not too much rain) we can get them to grow to the size of regular onions but in Louisiana it can be tough! It has been cold the last few days but we should have so nicer weather upon us. Thanks for all your support and stay safe!

About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
