Farm Happenings for December 28, 2020

Posted on December 26th, 2020 by Grady Seale

I hope everyone had a good Christmas! We are just starting to pick some Green Garlic out of the field. We call it green garlic bc we pick it before it starts to form in pods. We typically plant the garlic pods in mid-August to early September and normally they are ready in mid to late January (so a little early this year) When growing regular garlic it usually takes about 9 months for pods to form and then after harvest you have to dry them out. It is a long process that often in Louisiana, doesn't yield much. The green garlic resemble leeks but once you cut into one and taste you will know its Garlic! Happy New Year and thank you all for the support!
