Hope everyone is well and enjoying their boxes! We have a saying on the farm that speaks true for most of South Louisiana: "From dust to mud and mud to dust"! Currently the farm is on the muddy side, but at least its not dusty! The heat and rain mixed together is one of our worst enemies we battle every year, many people think the rain is good for us, when in reality too much rain damages the crops and creates a number of problems. We do need some rain here and there but with underground irrigation I can keep the crops watered perfectly! With that being said we are starting to see our red creoles and heirloom tomatoes dwindle, while cherry/grape tomatoes are still hanging on well. We are trying to get as many different varieties of fruits and veggies available for you to enjoy!

About the farm
Covey Rise Farms is located in Husser, LA just north of New Orleans in central Tangipahoa Parish and is part of the Covey Rise Sportsman's Retreat. The farm started growing vegetables on 10 acres in 2009 and has expanded to over 60 acres at present. The farm not only grows multiple varieties of over 30 types of vegetables, but in recent years has added fruit trees and flowers. Our produce is enjoyed at various types of restaurants in New Orleans and surrounding areas, from the finest restaurants to quaint neighborhood cafes and everything in between and by our local produce/CSA members.
