Week 16 Summer 2019 Vegetable Share- Cooper's CSA Farm Happenings

Posted on September 13th, 2019 by Coopers CSA Farm

Fall is coming and as the weather cools down one of the more enjoyable places to work on the farm is in our tunnels. In the pic is Jairo and Fili. Jairo has been with us for 18 years, Fili for 9. Along with Jose and Lio these four gentleman are the main field crew who take care of 90% of the produce in your box each week. Steve leads the crew, Kelsey and Trenton help out at times in the field but it’s the “guys” that provide the skill, work ethic and consistency that our farm needs. The guys come up from Mexico in late April and head home in early November. If you ever want to meet the guys come out to our farm store at 10am when we’re open. Steve and the guys are there everyday for coffee break. They love to chat and you can try out your Spanish.

  • Peppers are full on. We have red shepherd, sweet lunch box mini, jalapeño and poblano available. Cayenne aren’t to far off either
  • Celery and Spinach. Our friends around the corner, Jan Hing Farms have provided us with a nice pick of these two crops
  • Ginger Gold is the apple variety this week. A fantastic eating apple
  • Fall squash, leeks and Brussels sprouts are almost ready for harvest. You’ll see them soon
  • Sign up for winter season. Use earlybird5 as a coupon code and save 5%.
  • Keep returning boxes, bags, plastic quarts, and egg cartons

Have a great week!
