CSA WK 2!!

Hey guys!!

As I’m writing this it is a beautiful and sunshiny day! Bring on the sun!! We hope you are all able to get out and enjoy this beautiful weather.

Hope you enjoyed last week's boxes, loved some of the photos you sent us with your veggies!!

We’ve had some people ask what to do with collard greens. These are super popular in the south and loaded with nutrition! Cook them like you would chard, kale or spinach. Another delicious way to cook your collards is sauteed with onions and bacon. Yum!!

As we anticipated this week's box will again be a little leaner than we would like, but we have been able to get some beautiful bundles of kale from our friends at Grey Arrow Farm, which will help supplement this box. Our favorite way to have kale is to massage it with oil and sea salt before using in salad. It makes the kale so tender and delicious! We will also give you the option to add ground beef, or marinating steaks as a swap if you like. We also have limited amounts of extra honey (1kg jars) from our honey farmer, Brads Bees. We've added this as an option to swap into your box as well.

We are so excited that we have carrots this week!! It's amazing what a difference 1 week can make in the garden! Our broccoli and broccolini are looking fantastic, kohlrabi is doing great, and so much more to come!!

This week is a full and fun week for us, as a lot of our add-on packages will be delivered and it’s also our monthly donut week! Ohana donuts is no longer offering the mini donut package that we had originally arranged with them, so they are offering us a different package instead with the same value- a dozen of their malasada donuts (half filled, half not). These are personally our favorite donuts from Ohana, so we’re sure you’ll love them too!! If you are wanting to add donuts to your delivery this week, please order by noon on Sunday, otherwise they will not be able to fill your order, and I’ll have to bump your order to the next month delivery.

Chicken and honey will be delivered this week too!!

As a reminder, please ensure that you bring your own bag for pickup! The customization period will end at 8:00 am Monday morning.

Look forward to seeing you all again this week, and getting some delicious produce into your home!

Your Farmers,

Chris and Amy James
