CSA Week 1

Posted on July 2nd, 2020 by Amy James

Welcome to our 2020 Veggie CSA

Hey Everyone! We are so excited to be your farm fresh veggie provider for this summer.

Please read this email as it has pertinent information regarding our season and your first delivery!

Our garden was hit by some late frost twice, and although the rain has helped our produce grow, the cool weather has slowed down some of our veggies. They are all coming in beautifully now, they've just had a slower start than expected. With that being said, we anticipate that our first couple of veggie boxes will be a little leaner than we had hoped, at about 75%, with lots of leafy vegetables. We are confident though that as the season continues, we will more than make up for this! The software platform we use, “Harvie”, helps us to stay on target and provide our members with all you've paid for!! For our first couple of deliveries, we have added ground beef as an option for those of you who’d like to swap this in to supplement your box. Additionally, you can choose to reschedule a share, and double up later in the season when we have more variety. All of these options are available during the “customization period”, which you can access until Monday, July 6/20 at 08:00 am.

We love supporting local, and helping promote other local farms, so for this weeks box we have a special treat from the Boreal Harvest Farm, haskap berries (aka honeyberries). Enjoy!!

Please note: If you are unable to pick up your veggies, you will need to put a hold on your order for the week during the customization period (you do this on your Harvie profile), have someone else pick your produce up, or contact us to make other arrangements. If you miss your pick up time we will not be able to hold your produce for you. Our delivery days are very busy, and we need to stick to a strict schedule in order to get all of our deliveries in.

All produce will be delivered in plastic totes, but we ask that you bring your own bag to take your produce home in. We need our totes for next week's delivery.

We are taking every precaution to keep you safe during COVID-19, enforcing strict rules at the farm, as we process and handle your veggies. We ask that at our drop sites everyone continues to maintain social distancing as per the recommendations put in place by our government.

All of our drop sites are ready to go - please make sure that you remember your pick up time and location. During the customization period, you will have the opportunity to select another drop site if required. For our parking lot pick-ups, we will be in either a grey van or a black truck. Please come to the table we have set up and provide your name, and we will set your produce onto the table. We will then step away from the table and allow you to transfer your produce into your own bag. Please give us some time in between customers to sanitize our work area.

For our store front pickups, please make your way into the store, tell either Compass Farms staff or store staff that you are there for pickup and follow the instructions given. These will be similar to parking lot pick ups.

For those of you who have signed up for our payment plan, your next payment will be 25% of your total order, and then the remaining 50% will be divided over the remaining weeks.

Thank you again for your commitment to supporting local and our CSA model. We are so grateful to each one of you and hope that this season exceeds your expectations!

Please feel free to contact us by text or call at 780-860-0152 or 780-913-4547 with any questions or concerns.

P.s. If you are wanting to order Ohana Donuts this month, the week of July 13/20 is our delivery week.
