Common Roots Urban Farm CSA Newsletter Week #1

Posted on May 31st, 2021 by Terra Dumas

Welcome to the 2021 Common Roots Urban Farm CSA! Every week during the season, we will keep you updated on what’s going on at the farm with our Farm Happenings newsletters. We hope you can enjoy a little of our insight and perspective from our lives on the farm. Silliness and whimsy abound!

The beginning of this season has been busy and fruitful. We have made some infrastructure improvements in order to accommodate our growing business. We purchased a used walk in cooler to keep our flowers, tomatoes, peppers and eggplant cool. Unfortunately, the condenser needs some work to function but we got a good deal! To improve our tool storage, we also purchased a used shipping container. Aside from a small leak, it is functioning as it should. Earlier in the season, we had two caterpillar tunnels (small high tunnels) built and ready to go. That is, until the weather decided to take a turn for the worse and blow one of them down and forced us to cut and remove the plastic on the other to prevent further damage. Farmer problems, am I right?

We are looking forward to seeing all of our members and giving you the best produce we can grow. We encourage all of you to stop by the farm and take a look around. We love to show off the fruits of our labor and share with you all of the ins and outs of how we get our food to your table.

Eat well & enjoy,

Josh and Terra
