Farm Happenings for October 29th, 2022

Posted on October 27th, 2022 by Mike Finger

The customization period for this coming Saturday's (October 29th) farm share is now OPEN and will remain so until nearly midnight tonight (Thursday)!  If you'd like to review or edit the items in your harvest NOW is the time to do so.  Once again, we have a robust list of crops available for this week's harvest , so if you do want to delete, swap, or add items you have some choices available to you.  If the link in this email doesn't connect you to your customization page, you can always log directly into your Harvie member account and customize from that location. Don't hesitate to contact us if you need help with customizing your share.

This Week's Photo:  We begin pepper harvest as early as late July most years, but they always seem to come into their prime in the early moments of fall when the threat of frost is hanging in the air. This summer's dry and warm conditions, that persisted well into early fall, have produced an abundant pepper crop and the most ripe (red, orange, gold) fruit we've seen in years. Last week, in anticipation of new rains and perhaps a frost, we picked most of the fruit still hanging on the plants; so we should be able to keep peppers on the harvest list for at least two more weeks, perhaps more if the frost holds off. What delicious moisture fell on the land and on us last Friday!  The plants were almost glowing after the soaking, and the air was sweet once again.  It's always a gift to have extended dry and warmth, but the return to a cooler and more humid state is a delight and a relief.

Thanks for your membership and support ~ and THANKS for the boxes many of you have been returning each week!

Yours,

Mike, Kim, and Crew
