Farm Happenings for July 16, 2022

Posted on July 14th, 2022 by Mike Finger

The customization period for this coming Saturday's harvest (July 16th) is now open and will remain so until 11:59 p.m. tonight (Thursday). If you'd like to delete, swap, or purchase items you have until tonight at 11:59 p.m. to do so.

We have a big list of items for you this week as the farm enters the summer season. We eagerly await the arrival of cucumbers and tomatoes, both of which were stalled a bit during our chilly early spring, but have been growing robustly since.  We have found a few ripe cherry tomatoes in the past few days, so we are hopeful of greater production soon.  The peas are in rapid decline, we are sorry to report, despite the cool and moist spring which should have been a boost to them. Peas remain for us a vexing crop, labor intensive to establish and tending toward early demise. We look forward now to the other delicious crops of summer...

Thank you for your membership and support.  Contact us anytime if you have questions about your farm share.

This Week's Photo: One of our three high tunnels devoted to tomatoes, this one planted with cherry tomatoes. We prune and train these vines weekly, while also providing them constant ventilation and regularly timed irrigation.  The most fussed over ground on the farm, and for good reason: vine ripened tomatoes are an exquisite treat!

Yours,

Mike, Kim, and Crew
