Happy Spring, friends!  Thank you so much for signing up as a member of the Cedarville Farm Fresh Choice (CSA) produce delivery service.  We are thrilled to begin this, our 31st season of offering farm shares to our community.  This coming Saturday, May 28th, will be our first harvest of 2022 and your first delivery.  As you might have both heard and felt, it has been quite a cold Spring.  According to some weather savants, the April / May period to date has been the coldest in 50 years. We were perhaps not paying attention too closely as our sowing, planting, and ground preparation work all went according to schedule without any serious set backs.  It wasn't until about 2 weeks ago while on a slow evening promenade through the fields that it hit me suddenly that while healthy, virtually all of our crops were not very large. The garden I was looking at was more appropriate to mid / late April, not early May.  It was at that point, we realized we'd have to delay a week just to give the crops more time to bulk up.  Fortunately, it has been warmer the past several days, and especially so this weekend, and the crops are responding with more vigorous growth.  So, along with our own delicious Cedarville greens plus crops and other foods produced by our partner farms in Whatcom and Skagit counties, we'll have a full and tasty list of foods to offer you.

Tonight you are receiving your projected Harvest for this Saturday the 28th of May.  This is not a final list and if you wish you can customize it further by swapping, adding, or deleting items; you can also purchase extra items to supplement your share.  If you'd like to make some changes to your estimated share just click on the "Swap Items" button in the estimate you've received tonight.  You have until 11:30 p.m. tonight, Thursday, to make changes to  your share.  Read this help document for more detail on how the customization process works: "Customizing Your Box."

As a member of our share program, you have a lot of control over scheduling, payment, and many other elements of your CSA account. This page, "What can I do in my dashboard" is a good one to learn about these features.

General Notes About the First Delivery:  The Farmers' Market is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You are welcome to pick up your box anytime during these hours.

BOXES!  Please make every effort to return you waxed delivery boxes to your pickup site each week (that is, when you return for your next pick up).  It is a courtesy and a great service to your pickup site hosts and us, your delivery team, if you return your box folded down flat.  Please take care to fold your box without mangling or tearing at the bottom and top flaps.  These folds hold the box together and can be disengaged by simply collapsing them upwards along their seams (accordian like).  Treated gently, we can reuse these boxes several times which is a great benefit to operating budget!  Thank You for your attention and care to this request.

We hope you enjoy this first harvest.  With each week we travel through the season, we'll have more variety to share with you.  The garden is filling up and with time and warmth it's sure to yield many delicious harvest for us all to enjoy.

If you have any questions about your share or you encounter problems finding your box this Wednesday please contact us via email at mkfinger@gmail.com.

Thank you for your membership and support of local farms.  Salads ahoy!
