Farm Happenings for December 8, 2021

Posted on December 1st, 2021 by Mike Finger

Please Note: The customization period for the coming week's delivery (12/8) ends at 10:30 Sunday night.

Hello Friends:

The flood waters are mostly (but not entirely) receded. Next up: Snow!  As we write this Saturday morning, the very lightest of flurries are falling quietly to the ground, where they (so far) are melting. Forecasts seem to suggest we'll be in a rain / snow mix period for some days to come, with the chance here at the farm of snow accumulations of 1 - 3 inches.  We have a small crew picking today just in case we find a white farm come Monday (it is NO FUN to harvest in the snow, just sayin').

This will be our final harvest and delivery of the 2021 season.  We will also make the final deliveries of the season of the CHICKEN, PORK, EGG, and PASTA Shares.

Thank You So Very Much for your membership this season, and also for your patience and understanding as we continue to learn the fine points of the Harvie system, not to mention as we continue to learn how to grow all these crops. From an early summer heat wave to a generally dry and warm main season to November's floods to a final act of cold and snow, it's been an eventful season.  Generally, we are pleased with the harvest both in terms of quality and quantity.  With the variety of weather we experienced, it seems things could have gone worse.  So, we are relieved and hope that you were pleased in the main with the items you received.

Boxes ! Thank you for your cooperation in returning your box to your pick up site during the season.  It is a great help to us and allows us to hold our packaging costs down.  If you could return these final boxes of the coming week to your pick up site within the next week after delivery, we'd be grateful.  We'll swing by all the pickup sites soon thereafter to pick up all returned boxes and store them for the winter (after tossing the most depleted ones).

Please contact us if you have any questions about your account.  Once the last box is delivered, we intend to put away our farmer's hat for the next several weeks and think of other things than cultivation.  Come January, we'll start placing our first orders for seeds and supplies and finalizing our plans for the 2022 season. We'll be in touch with you sometime in early winter to announce the particulars of the coming farm season ~ we'd be delighted and honored to be your farmers once again in 2022.

Thank You for being a part of Cedarville Farm this past season.  Have a lovely holiday and winter.
