Farm Happenings for November 11, 2020

Posted on November 6th, 2020 by Mike Finger

Thanks to mild weather and fairly dry conditions we've managed to bring in one more nice harvest of cauliflower, broccoli raab, celery, and swiss chard. Some crops continue to slowly fill out, such as leeks and brussels sprouts, while others seem to struggle to just maintain themselves in fair condition.  The time of root and storage crops and hardy greens has arrived, while summer lives on in the form of jars of canned tomatoes in the pantry and ziplock bags of pesto in our freezer.

This week will be our 26th harvest of the season, with four more to come after ~ the final harvest for all weekly shares and for many of our every other week shares will be December 9th.

This week's "Extra" items available for swaps and purchase: potatoes (First Cut Farms, Mt. Vernon), Carrots and Beets (Hopewell Farm, Everson), Radicchio (Boldly Grown Farm, Mt. Vernon), dessert apples, Topaz and Honeycrisp (Cloud Mt. Farm Center, Everson), and Shiitake Mushrooms (Cascadia Farm, Bellingham).
