Farm Happenings for August 5, 2020

Posted on August 1st, 2020 by Mike Finger

Hi, Friends:

The farm is a lush and fecund piece of earth right now.  We have many crops ready to harvest, with several drawing near.  It's a challenge each week to decide which items to offer to you, wanting to keep things varied while at the same time making good use of the production we have.  Broccoli, Cauliflower, and Broccoli Raab continue to  produce large crops, so we are keeping those on the list.  Our Basil patches are finally kicking in such that we can offer a good quantity of this summer herb to you. If you'd like to order extra Basil and Garlic for Pesto making, contact us and we'll set you up for a bulk order. This week, we are excited to be offering Blue Berries from Terra Verde farm in Everson.  We decided to give you a break from lettuce for one week (our next patch is still a bit small), though we have returned Salad Mix to the line up.Slicing tomatoes are showing good color, so we expect to start adding those to the harvest list next week. We are nearly done with our first patch of bush beans, but three gorgeous rows of pole beans are starting to set fruit, so tender beans will continue to be a harvest feature.  This week promises to be cooler and perhaps even a bit wet, a welcome change after last week's heat blast which registered several days of high eighties and at least one in the 90's.  Thanks so much for you membership.  ~ Mike, Kim, and Crew
