Farm Happenings for August 18, 2020

Posted on August 16th, 2020 by Chad and Liz Shinn

Hello from your very warm farmers!

It's been a very warm week and while we love that the sun is still shining and summer isn't over yet, it makes for some draining long days! We may be hot and tired, but we cannot let our crops feel the same. While we usually water infrequently, but longer periods of time, on these hotter days we water more frequent, but shorter amounts of time. It is important to keep the plants cool, throughout the day with some refreshing hydration!

Can you believe the CSA season is at the half way point? It goes by so fast, too fast! It always amazes us how quick the summer season is. Maybe because our winter planting is well on its way. Did you know we grow all year long? We love being able to grow year round! In fact, we just put in an order for 2 new high tunnels to be able to have more winter crops in protective cover. So, do not fret! The food will keep on coming even in the coldest of months!

Have a beautiful week!
