CSA deliveries started off with a bang!

Posted on June 18th, 2020 by Matt Frank

Our first week of CSA deliveries started off with a bang....literally! After delivering shares to our first four drop sites on Wednesday morning, our "trusty" refrigerated box truck got a flat tire. While we waited for a mechanic to arrive, the truck's refrigerator remained running to keep your produce and herbs fresh. Unfortunately, this caused the truck battery to die; strike two. Luckily, Big River Farms staff jumped into action and were still able to deliver all 220 member shares by Wednesday afternoon.

Thanks again for your patience and understanding as we dealt with some unexpected delivery delays. If you have not picked up your first share yet, please reach out to your drop site host to schedule a time that works well. Drop site contact info can be seen in the welcome letter emailed to everyone on Friday, June 12th.

Some friendly reminders for future CSA share pick ups:

  • Please look for your name on the CSA totes. Each tote is customized and packed for each member based on your individual food preferences. Names can be found on the exterior labels near the very top (look for white text in a black box). We're making adjustments in how we pack CSA boxes at the farm to make sure member names are more clearly visible for future pick ups.
  • Please use the provided hand sanitizer at your drop site before touching any CSA totes.
  • Please only take your fresh produce in the plastic liner bag provided and leave the empty, reusable CSA tote at your drop site.
  • If you need to reschedule a pick-up, please do so at least two weeks in advance by signing into your member profile on Harvie and requesting a hold: harvie.farm/member/deliveries

Thanks to everyone who reached out to express your gratitude for our farmers and the beautiful food they've grown; we hope you're enjoying it. Here's to another season of amazing local produce!
