Farm Happenings for September 27, 2019

Posted on September 23rd, 2019 by Karolina Kowalczyk

Dear CSA Member,

Last week was a very busy for the farm operations team: On Monday a load of really fat grass fed steers was taken to Lake Geneva Country Meats for processing, and processed pork from Hometown Sausage was picked up on the way back to the farm. On Tuesday, Cliff spent the day at a local food summit.  Then on Wednesday they hauled a trailer full of broiler chickens up to Twin Cities Pack first thing in the morning, returned to the farm, then loaded the last group of big hogs and drove them up to Lake Geneva Country Meats in the afternoon. Its unusual that we have beef, pork, and chickens all going in for processing in the same week. It just shows how awesome and well coordinated the team is!

When visiting the store this upcoming weekend keep an eye out for new bratwurst, sausages, and bacon. Other new and unusual items in the store includes grain free/gluten free pasta, pie pumpkins and winter squash, Asian Pears, fresh Michigan apples, and a new flavor of Arize Kombucha, tart cherry (new store team favorite!).

This week we would like to highlight Gary, our orange barn cat. Over the last week he has been working very hard to welcome all of our farm store customers. In addition to his passion for hospitality, Gary also enjoys long naps and munching on ears of corn, please give him a nice pet when you see him.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
