Second Week of Full Diet CSA Shares Has Lots of Great Items

Posted on June 24th, 2019 by Cliff McConville

We have a great selection of items in the box for our Full Diet CSA shareholders this week. We are starting to harvest a few items from our farm production here, including garlic scapes, some lettuces, and we will have enough green onions to add on as extras.  But we are relying on our local farmer friends again for the majority of the box contents again.  All these items are from local farms, most are certified organic and all all are grown in real soil (no hydroponics).  The basic veggie box this week includes the first local celery and zucchini crop of the year, spinach, kale, red leaf lettuce, microgreens, strawberries, garlic scapes, red radishes, and purple asparagus (last asparagus this year).

For the pork items, we will have no nitrate/uncured ham steaks, smoked Kielbasa, and pork shoulder roast.   Grass fed beef items will include round roast, chuck eye steak, and beef patties.  And a chicken, choose whole or cutup.  Please review your box, if everything looks good with your box content,, you don't need to do anything, just show up on your selected pickup date and get your box.  If you would like to edit the contents of your box or pickup date, you will click on SWAP ITEM link.  Each product in the box as well as the optional products available will have a value assigned, and you can add or exchange items to be included in your box each week.

Be sure to check out the extras that can be added into your box! Each week we will have new exciting products you can pick from. This week we are offering our own pasture-raised duck eggs, the Suburban Sourdough bread baked by our colleague Douglas, green onions grown by Karolina here on our farm, organic mushrooms from River Valley Ranch, and we also have a limited selection of fresh herbs that Anna grows here in her no till garden.  don’t forget the organic cheddar from Steckler Grassfed.

As for the payment information, most shareholders either paid in full for their shares upon signup, or paid a 25% deposit.  If you paid a 25% deposit upon signup, your card on file will be charged and additional 25% when you pickup your first box of the season.  The remaining 50% of the season's share cost will be charged evenly over the remaining pickup weeks.  And any extra items you choose to include in your weekly box will be charged to your card that week.

Let us know if you have any questions about the program.  Email works well for questions, but you can always call our farm store during normal business hours at 847-852-7081 with product questions.  Harvie specific questions are best answered by the Harvie team as support@harvie.farm

Cheers,
