Farm Happenings for March 18, 2020

Posted on March 15th, 2020 by Renee Watley

Hi Friends,

Well, where to start.  It's been quite a week.  We are navigating uncharted waters with all our markets shutting down overnight.  So we are working to find ways to continue bringing local and organic food safely to your tables during these uncertain times.

Yesterday morning we posted to our social media accounts that our farmstore would remain open over the weekend with regular sanitizing measures in place.  We also added an option for delivery to help move the surplus of produce we had slated for markets.  And you all showed up so amazingly well for us.  Our post was shared over twenty times on Facebook.  You all reached out to friends and neighbors and even drove from Clearwater to show your support.  We are overwhelmed.  Our appreciation is immense and our hearts our beyond full.

In the upcoming week we will keep in touch as we continue to think over how best to continue to serve you.  At this moment, it looks like we will close the farmstore for public shopping; only remaining open for farm box pick up.  We have reached out to Harvie support to request our home delivery module be turned on.  Note, It will not be in place by tomorrow's order cut off so please proceed as normal with your customizations and we will let you know if/when delivery becomes available.  If possible, please make a note for delivery so we know this is your preference.  As we work toward opening up home delivery please know as our farm members you have first choice on availability.  Your commitments are the backbone to the farm.  We will continue monitoring the current situation while continuing to implement best practices for sanitization that will include new boxes (not reused) for everyone until further notice, using gloves to handle all produce, and nothing new here - washing hands often, sanitizing surfaces frequently and very simply not working if feeling at all unwell.  There are only three of us who come in contact with your veggies once on our farm so we are able to quickly react as the current situation seems to change daily.  One of the larger farms we work with, Little Pond Farm, has also reassured they are following GAP (USDA) health standards to keep produce safe.

I'm sure we are all a little tired of hearing about COVID so on a lighter note I'll end with this.  NEW this week are yellow wax and Italian flat beans from Passion Organics and baby golden Turmeric from Little Pond Farm.

Thinking of you all and praying for good health and peace.
