Farm Happenings for February 19, 2020

Posted on February 16th, 2020 by Renee Watley

We hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend.  We hosted our community for free guided farm tours today on the farm.  It’s one of our favorite days of the month.  We get to meet new friends and share our love of small sustainable agriculture with our community.

We’d REALLY like to encourage everyone to go through and rate our products in your profiles.  It may seem a little daunting but we promise it will allow us to make the most of your farm box experience.  And if you just can’t find the time, please check your emails for customization periods each week.  The ability to swap and substitute items is a short window of time but so important to your experience.  By allowing us to provide you with what you'd like we can ensure you are getting the most from your share.  Your enjoyment and long term support creates sustainability for our farm and many others.

Last but certainly not least, a little crop news.  We have strawberry onions in the farm shares this week from Passion Organics.  Strawberry onions get their name from being sown in the strawberry fields; between plants.  They usually come on toward the latter half of berry season.  They’re large and sweet and make for great onion rings.

We also have lots of tomatoes coming on right now.  Ugly tomatoes from Passion Organics, Purple Cherokee and tomato berries from Greens on the Gro, and sungolds from our farm.  It’s a great time to stock up on some uglies for canning and sauce.  And the heirlooms are beautiful sliced on their own, on a sandwich, or in a salad.  They’re in the shares and also available as extras.

We appreciate your support and look forward to always bringing you the best from you local farm community.  Thank you for choosing to shop locally with us.
