Farm Happenings for January 29, 2020

Posted on January 26th, 2020 by Renee Watley

We felt our first real cold last week which required us to cover our garden.  Everything faired well and we are harvesting sungold tomatoes, purple broccoli florets, lettuce mix and arugula this week.

We’re showcasing local and organically grown turmeric from Peach Pit Farms in this week’s shares.  Turmeric is known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects and is great for adding to salad dressings, curries, and for sprinkling on veggies before roasting.  We even have a long time farm member who enjoys it grated over her morning coffee.

A special thanks to everyone for working with us through last week’s hiccup with a missed farm delivery.  Our friends at Passion Organics experienced a family loss and then had to battle freezing temps to ensure their berries remained safe.  It’s always a hard time for berry farmers and makes for 24 hr workdays.  Our thoughts go out to the Passion Organics family.

Thank you so much for your support!
