Farm Happenings for May 20, 2020

Posted on May 18th, 2020 by Renee Watley

Hi,

Hope everyone is off to a great start this week.  We are working on adapting our schedule to better serve you.  You will likely receive order notifications on Monday's going forward.  Not to worry, you will still have at least 24 hrs to customize your shares.  Our cut off will be Tuesday evenings.  This will help us reduce quality concerns and quantity shortages.  Thank you for your feedback and working with us through these adaptations.

In local farm news we are overjoyed to share that we will have local and organic blackberries from 5K Farms this week.  Along with their zucchini, yellow squash and cucumbers.  Also new this week is local and organic kale back from Passion Organics and Greens on the Gro Farms.  Our farm will be adding edible flowers and scallions to the mix.  And we'll have conventionally grown, local from Plant City, athena cantaloupes and fresh okra.

Okra is often a hard vegetable for people to enjoy.  It can become slimy when cooked.  But in my humble opinion, if you've never eaten fresh okra, you're missing out.  It is tender and delicious.   Eat your seasons friends!

All the best,

Renee & the Farmily
