Greetings from the Farm: New Adventures and Abundant Harvests!

Dear valued CSA members,

The sun is barely peeking over the horizon as I write this email, having just returned from an early morning road trip with Sadie and Lilly to drop off our meat orders. There's something magical about the quiet roads and the sense of purpose that comes with these early journeys. As a family farm, we take great pride in providing you with the finest produce and meats, and your support means the world to us.

Speaking of adventures, yesterday brought a special treat as I embarked on a small mom and daughters outing with Sadie and Lilly to Amish country. Our purpose was twofold - delivering some of our finest chickens to a local market and indulging in the beauty and simplicity of the Amish lifestyle. It was a joy to experience the peaceful surroundings and share cherished moments with my little ones. Good news awaits! We will be offering our first chicken season later this afternoon once we complete the inventory. Your patience and support make these moments possible, and we are incredibly excited to share the results of our labor with you.

As you may know, meat inventory is currently on the lower side, but worry not, as two beef and pigs are being processed. With a hopeful heart, we anticipate that our freezers will be filled to the brim soon, ensuring that you have a wide variety of choices to delight your palate.

Now, let's talk about the vibrant produce that awaits you this week. The fruit selection is simply mouthwatering! We have a bountiful array of blueberries, blackberries, peaches, plums, and cantaloupes, freshly picked and brimming with sweetness. There's nothing quite like indulging in the juicy goodness of locally grown fruits, and we're delighted to bring these delights to your table.

This week, we're particularly excited to highlight the versatile and nutritious zucchini! To help you make the most of this fantastic vegetable, here are some tips on how to store and prepare it:

Storage: Keep zucchini in a plastic bag in the refrigerator. It will remain fresh for up to a week.

Preparation: Wash the zucchini thoroughly and trim the ends. It can be sliced, diced, grated, or spiralized, depending on your culinary plans.

To get your creative juices flowing, here are five delightful recipe ideas to enjoy with zucchini:

Zucchini Fritters: Grate zucchini, mix with eggs, flour, and seasonings, and pan-fry until crispy and golden.

Stuffed Zucchini Boats: Hollow out zucchini halves, fill with a flavorful mixture of quinoa, vegetables, and cheese, and bake until tender.

Zucchini Noodles with Pesto: Spiralize zucchini into noodles, then toss with your favorite pesto sauce for a refreshing and nutritious meal.

Zucchini and Corn Quesadillas: Sauté zucchini and corn, then sandwich them with cheese between tortillas for a delicious vegetarian quesadilla.

Grilled Zucchini Salad: Slice zucchini lengthwise and grill until tender. Toss with cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, and balsamic vinaigrette for a light and flavorful salad.

Lastly, let me share one of our family's favorite ways to enjoy zucchini - making zucchini tater tots! Grate zucchini, mix with breadcrumbs, cheese, and spices, then form them into tot shapes and bake until crispy. It's a fun and healthy twist on a classic favorite!

Thank you for being part of our farm family and for supporting local, sustainable agriculture. We are truly grateful for your continued trust and enthusiasm. May your week be filled with the abundance of summer's finest offerings, and we can't wait to see you at our CSA pickup!

With warmest regards,

The Schultz Family
