Let the season begin

Posted on May 14th, 2021 by Lynne Schultz

Greetings from the farm,

We are super excited that CSA season is about ready to kick off. Our family would like to thank you for becoming a member of our program we are super excited to be providing produce to you this season. We are also excited that we might finally see the last of the cold weather this year.

So the first few weeks will have alot of greens. It is just that time of the year as we wait for those red tomatoes in the high tunnel, and beets and carrots to bulb out and peas to bloom. Which theses things are just two to three weeks from being ready. So enjoy your salads for the first few weeks of your CSA and try some dressings. This week particular there is alot of lettuce ans salad greens. Our kale and swiss chard willnot be ready yet this is what has been most effected by growth due to cold weather but it will be ready soon.

We have a super busy week ahead of us with weather breaking. We have our field crops to get in for feed for our livestock. We just got 1000 sweet potatoes and 3000 watermelon plants in so they will need planted. We also have our outside tomatoes, eggplants and peppers to plant. Alot of cultivating and weeding to do since it has started to dry up finally after all the rain next week. So a busy few weeks ahead of us.
