Week 18

Posted on September 13th, 2020 by Lynne Schultz

Greetings,

I hope have everyone has a  great week. Here on the far we have had some exciting things happen over this week. The supplies for our new barn have arrived and the company building our barn should start  this week. Also our new strawberries plants have arrived over 8000 of them.  We have gotten the plastic laid for them and  they will be getting planted this week. This means we will be over two acres in strawberries for the coming year. Also we have been busy with helping Sadie with her 4-H projects getting them ready for fair. Starting today she has to wash, walk and blow dry her steer everyday not just a few times a week. Also pumpkins are starting to roll in and our farm stand will be starting to look more like fall. We also have another beef and 2 hogs going to the butcher shop this week.

Taking about meat. If you have a griller package or hamburger share this week you will not be getting your meat this week . Due to the Covid getting into the butcher shop has been a long process getting dates to get processed plus with the barn falling down we wanted to take all precautions to make sure all bruising was out our of the meat. We do have a beef at the butchers right now it is just hanging to get the age on it. Our beef get hung for 10 to 14 days to get the aging on it. We should be picking it up as well as hog by the end of the week. Please don't worry we will be doubling you hamburger next week and be delivering your griller package to your next week .

We only have a few weeks left of summer CSAs. Please note the following last days for Vegetable, Egg, and Hamburger CSA baskets are the week of September 27th to October 3rd. Fruit CSA shares end the week of September 20th to September 26th (remember fruit shares were a shorter season).

Also we have Fall Vegetable share still available but they are filling up fast. A little it more about it runs for ten weeks starting the week after to farm to the week of Christmas.
