Farm Happenings for September 14, 2023

Posted on September 11th, 2023 by Emily Hendrikx

Hey there,

It is still a month away, but I thought I'd bring up Thanksgiving.  It is my favourite holiday.  A time for giving thanks, abundance, generosity, sharing food, good company, harvest, and preparing for the cold and dark of winter.  Thanksgiving, and fall in general is a busy time of planting garlic, cover crops, spreading manure, shorter days, cold and wetter weather, satisfaction of veggies picked, planted and stored.  The end of the season, a cozy time of hot food, comfy sweaters, and dreaming about next year.

Part of this year's dream was to try and get you the selection of meats, veg and decorations you may need for the fall and winter seasons.

* We will have fresh turkey available by the evening of Friday Oct 6 for pick up here at the farm all weekend, or at the Georgetown farmers market on the 7.

* Lots of frozen smoked ham available now.  Full list of pork and beef cuts available shortly for winter freezer stock up.

* We have a nice selection of orange and white pumpkins, mini pumpkins, and gourds, what ever your front porch or table display may need for the fall.  Available at the farm or the market beginning this week.

* Winter freezer stockup packages will be available soon.

* It may seem far off, but we also offer space and supplies for winter urn and wreath making here starting after Nov. 11.  Ready to take home items are available as well.
