Farm Happenings for July 23, 2020

Posted on July 21st, 2020 by Sarah Dawson

Premium shares for Thursday, July 23rd may include the following produce: salad mix, basil, chard, tomatoes, scallions, garlic, spring onions, summer squash & more!

Be advised that we are receiving locally-grown and organic kale from Lancaster Farm Fresh.

We are also offering the following items as add-ons to CSA shares:

  • Our own organic sweet corn at $1.50/ear
  • Fresh and organic tofu
  • Almazara de Alcaraz Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Puglisi's organic eggs

A note on tomato our tomato storage practices: Tomatoes for boxed shares are harvested while partially ripe. Rutgers Mid-Atlantic Commercial Vegetable Production Recommendations handbook advises tomatoes be stored at 50°F. If tomatoes are stored at a lower temperature and then brought back up to the 50°F recommended temp before consuming, the flavor of the tomatoes should be unaffected.
