Farm happenings for Week of October 5th

Posted on October 5th, 2020 by Kelly Morris

NEW! FALL HOURS: Thursday, 3pm-6pm, Friday 11am-6pm, Saturday 9am-1pm. Like always, feel free to come during any of our open hours. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before we close to allow yourself time to gather your veggies.

WINTER CSA: We've extended the deadline for signups! We still have a few more spots to fill so sign up today to get your winter veggies from Homefields. Bread, eggs and mushrooms are also available to add to your Winter Veggie Share. Learn more and signup at www.homefields.org/farm

FARM UPDATE: We're working on field cleanup this week. All the winter squash and pumpkins are out of the fields and curing in the barn or in the greenhouse. We're clearing off the vines and pulling up plastic to get a cover crop in. This time of the year the cover crops we're sowing are cereal grains like wheat and rye that will stay alive over the winter and pick up with strong growth in early spring. In other news, we're hosting a shareholder only Fall Fest on October 17th. You'll be receiving an email about this event soon so keep an eye on your inbox. Pictured here is Red Mustard Asian Greens. All the Asian Greens are looking spectacular right now but this red mustard really gets the first place ribbon! What a color!

ADD ONS AND EXTRAS: Just another reminder that Bread, Eggs and Mushrooms can all be added on to your Winter Veggie Share. Keep the goodness coming for 6 more weeks!
