Farm happenings for Week of July 20th

Posted on July 20th, 2020 by Kelly Morris

SAY HI TO KELLY!

Susan will be away this weekend so if you come Friday or Saturday to pickup your share, you'll get to meet Kelly, our lead farm hand! Kelly is a delight and we know she'll do a great job. It is her first time working distribution alone, so give her a little extra patience.

PICK YOUR OWN:

The Pick Your Own field is really filling up! Cherry tomatoes, tomatillos and ground cherries are ripe! The first bed of cherry tomatoes has Gold Nugget (orange variety) in front and Washington Cherry (red variety) in back. Look for tomatillos who have busted out of their shell and check under the plants for ground cherries that have fallen off the plants. You may see small plants in some beds. Matt has been planting 2nd successions of flowers and herbs this past week. These will be blooming before we know it! The peas won't be listed in anyone's shares this week, but they will be open during pickup hours for shareholders to glean. This will be the last week for them so scoop them up if you'd like some!

UPCOMING TALKS IN THE FIELDS:

July 24th 7:15-8:15pm - Tai Chi and Gentle Yoga with Elizabeth Swope and Amy Finnegan. Join us for this popular and calming class. Tai Chi and Gentle Yoga honors our fluid lunar nature, and invites us to slow down and practice self-care. Gentle movements connect our mind, body and spirit to the farm and earth. Please bring a yoga mat.

August 8th 1:30-2:30pm - Pepper Power with Dominique Didier. Dominique Didier will introduce guests to the many varieties of peppers grown at Homefields, and will share recipes, tips, and tricks for preserving and pickling peppers, both hot and sweet. Samples will be provided. More information and tickets are available here.

Thank you,

Your farmers,
Katie, Elizabeth, Brad, Brian, Christina, Kelly and Matt
