Peas, flowers, herbs and a few waning strawberries in the farm Upic Field

Posted on July 7th, 2018 by Seth Kroeck

Our upic at the farm in Brunswick has lots of great crops to pick on Sundays. Access to this field is included in your CSA membership. Never been here or never done Upic? No worries! It's easy. Here's the play by play...

How?

The field is marked with signs to help you know what is available and where it is, and how much to pick when applicable.  The general idea regarding quantities is that you'll pick a flower bouquet for your table, herbs to compliment your meals for the week, beans to cook with for a dinner (as opposed to enough to can for the winter months).  Its a shared space and so far it has worked out really well with people taking what they'll use for the week and leaving enough for others.

We also have pints, quarts, scissors and bags available.

Sundays tend to be quiet days out on the farm.  Our crew has the day off, and we try to take a little break ourselves.

Please note that we have electric fencing at the farm - and please inform the children!  We also ask that you please stay away from farm equipment and farm buildings - for safety reasons.

In addition to the Peas we have the following herbs today:

  • mint
  • oregano
  • marjoram
  • winter savory
  • catmint
  • chive
  • parsley
  • basil
  • cilantro
  • dill

Where?

When you arrive at the farm (277 Pleasant Hill Road Brunswick) you can park in the large lot (veer left when turning into driveway).  From there walk towards the buildings and we'll put out some signs to guide your way.

Crystal Spring Farm also hosts a lovely trail system managed by the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust.  If you are interested in taking a walk in the woods while you are here, you can find a trail map at http://www.btlt.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Trails-at-Crystal-Spring-Farm.pdf

In the meantime, feel free to call (729.1112) or email (info@crystalspringcsa.com) with questions or comments.

Enjoy!
