CSA WK 4

Posted on July 22nd, 2020 by Amy James

Hello everyone!

Welcome to week 4 of our CSA. We can't believe we are 1/3 into this years season already!! We are launching our customization period a bit early this week, as we have a busy weekend ahead. As always, it will end Monday at 8:00 am.

We love hearing what you've been doing with your veggies. Thanks for the photos and positive feedback. Please feel free to send us photos of your food creations! We'd love to see them, and we'll put them up on our social media too.

This garden season has been a tough one. Despite our best efforts, due to all the rain we have lost some of our crops. Our pac choi, arugula, and some of our herbs didn't make it. We've lost half of our potato crop and half of our red cabbage, and many of our other crops are still slow to come in. Our second plot of beets is looking kind of pathetic, but we are super hopeful that with the warm weather we are expecting they will perk up!

We are so thankful though that every week we see new growth, and we have been able to get enough veggies to each of you. The picture I attached with this email are some of our veggies that are coming in now (summer squash, cucumbers, tomatoes). Our celery and beans should be ready in the next week or 2 as well!

This week we will be adding garlic to our boxes. Farm fresh garlic is more potent than store bought garlic, so you may not need to use as much as your use to. We are also going to try to harvest some of our potatoes, we have arranged to supplement our crop with potatoes from Chris's family farm @lavoyfarmer if we need to, so that we can add potatoes this week!

There will also be some swap in only items available if you'd like to change your share up a bit.

Always,

Your Farmers

Chris and Amy James
